Shaker Creator Pockets Tutorial With Vianney Luna

What you will need

Hello, everyone! My name is Vianney, and I will be sharing a cute gift box project using the new Shaker Creator pockets and sentiment dies. The shaker pockets make a quick and amazing card front, and look absolutely wonderful as a box topper! The new sentiment dies have a more quirky feel that will make the project that much cooler. Let’s get started!

I will be using different colors of cardstock and will mix some sequins/spangles for the shaker. The papers I chose are Blue Cashmere, Gleaming Lilac, and patterned paper from the Sweet Sorbet paper pack. These boxes will look great in any cardstock type, texture, or color!

Step 1

Cut two pieces of cardstock for the box top and base. My finished box will measure 4 ¼” x 5 ½” with a depth of about 1 ½”. These numbers are easily manipulated to make whatever size box you like.

The box top should be cut to 5 ¾” x 7”. The box base cut to 7 ¼” x 8 ½”.

Step 2

Score the box top ¾” around each side. Score the box base at 1 9/16” around each side. This measurement will result in a box base that is a wee bit smaller so the box lid will fit nicely.

Step 3

Cut the corners of both pieces as shown, taking a small triangle off each piece. This will make pieces that will nestle in better when forming the top and bottom.

Step 4

Before assembling the box itself, I will cut a piece of patterned paper to just shy of 4 ¼ x 5 ½”. This piece will nestle inside one of the A2 size shaker pockets. I will also cut my sentiment from the “Welcome Home” dies.

Step 5

Adhere the layers of the die cut sentiment. Then adhere this to the patterned paper.

Step 6

Take an A2 size shaker pocket, bone fold on the score lines so the glue strips will be facing inward.

Step 7

Then open flat again, and place the pocket front side down (glue strips will be facing up).

Step 8

Place the patterned paper right side down on top of the pocket. Remove the carriers from three sides of the pocket. Adhere the three sides to the back of the patterned paper. Bone fold the glue flaps. Our pocket is ready for the pretty stuff!

Step 9

Next, take a small amount of glitter, sequins, confetti, and/or spangles and mix them together. Pour them into the pocket, about ¼ - ½ teaspoon is plenty…but you can also go wild!

Step 10

Next, take a small amount of glitter, sequins, confetti, and/or spangles and mix them together. Pour them into the pocket, about ¼ - ½ teaspoon is plenty…but you can also go wild!

Step 11

Now we will put it all together and assemble the gift box. I will bone fold all of the score lines on the box lid and base. It’s easier to do it now, before adding the shaker pocket.

Step 12

Next, adhere the shaker pocket to the center of the box top.

Step 13

Lastly, I will actually assemble the box. I simply glue the small tabs we created to their corresponding sides, as shown.

Step 14

Let your adhesive dry, if necessary. Now….place that amazing box top on its base, and you will have a fun gift box anyone would love to receive and you will be proud to give!

Thank you for spending time with me, I hope you do try this sweet project!
